Ahrenberg district, 200 m above sea level

An oasis of tranquillity, away from the hurly burly of traffic. Surrounded by a network of well laid walking routes. Can be reached by car via the national highway 27 (neighbourhood Ellershausen). On foot, approximately 1800 m. along the Hardt (spruce forest), slight ascent.

Eilershausen district, 155 m above sea level

North Hessian village on the Werra, surrounded by wooded hills. No through traffic.

Places of Interest: Half-timbered constructions from the 17th century.

Hiking Opportunities: Well developed walking routes right up to the heights of the surroundings.

Hilgershausen district, 250 m above sea level

Surrounded by the splendid landscape of the nature park Meißner sits the Kaufunger forest, abutting the rocky ridges of Mt. Meißner.

Places of Interest: trout lakes, Hilgershäuser cave, Altes Gericht (refuge), Mt. Meißner.

Hiking Opportunities: Habichtstein (mottled sandstone cliff), Mt. Rottenbergskopf, Mt. Krückenkopf, Mt. Roßkopf.

Kammerbach districts, 300 m above sea level

Situated at the foot of Mt. Meißner (750 m), surrounded by splendid forests and valleys. Beautiful scenic area.

Hiking Opportunities: Helmesberg (hill), Ottersbach (castle with moat), Wickenberg (hill), Mt. Roßkopf, Mt. Meißner.

Kleinvach district, 151 m above sea level

Situated beneath the Hörne (523 m. high shell limestone towering offshoot of the limestone rockface Gobert), directly on the Werra. Well developed and signposted walking paths. Children's playground, water treading facility, fishing opportunities.

Neighbourhood Oberrieden, 150 m above sea level

Situated in an especially beautiful part of the Werratal (Werra valley). Places of Interest: Riedbachtal (idyllic valley), Jugendburg Ludwigstein (youth centre and hostel, housed in a former castle), Kriegsgräberstätte (war gravesite), Kirschblüte (cherry blossom).

Hiking Opportunities: Habichtstein (mottled sandstone cliff), Mt. Rottenbergskopf, Mt. Krückenkopf, Mt. Roßkopf.

Especially for the guest: In the forest, on the walking routes, there are refuges, a bookshop and a children's playground.

Orferode district, 370 m above sea level

Situated at the foot of Mt. Meißner (750 m), surrounded by splendid forests and valleys. Beautiful scenic area.
